Things to do with your children during Spring!

Spring has sprung and Summer is quickly on its way as school holidays are approaching.

We wrote about 10 fun things to do with your children in Winter and thought that we would do the same again when the sun comes back out to play!

1. The beach

Go to the beach and collect seashells – you can make crafts with the shells you collect when you have days indoors.

2. The park

People who live inland and those who just love spending time outdoors can head to the park and enjoy a picnic with all of your family’s favourite foods.

Remember to pack all of your favourite outdoor playthings

3. Strawberry picking

Head out to your local farm that allows you and your family to pick fresh strawberry’s and any other fresh produce that they might have available for you.

Families in Pretoria can head over to The Strawberry Farm

4. Gardening

If your family catches the outdoor bug after spending some time strawberry picking you could decide to start a veggies, fruits and herbs garden in your home – this will be something that you will be able to work on well into your children’s adulthood and will create wonderful memories.

5. Artjamming

6. An amusement park

Have some fun in the sun by visiting your local amusement park such as Cedar Junction in Pretoria, Gold Reef City in Johannesburg, Cool Runnings Toboggan Family Park in Cape Town and uShaka Marine World in Durban

7. Visit a National Park

South Africa has been blessed with many National Parks that are scattered across the nation, why not take a mini family vacation to one of them and make it educational by going on the informative tours available at the parks.

8. Camping

You don’t need to leave the yard to go camping, you can just pitch up a tent in your back yard and enjoy the night as a family gazing at the stars, telling stories and maybe having a scrumptious braai.

If you want to get away from home though South Africa has plenty of camping spots that you can check out.

9. Acrobranch

“Acrobranch is a treetop experience dedicated to offering children and adults alike a unique adventure as they move from tree to tree in lush, green forests. They are another one of those South African gems located in different places, namely: Pretoria, Johannesburg, Centurion, Garden Route, Stellenbosch, Cape Town and Pietermaritzburg.

10. Outdoor cinema

Movie days spent in indoor cinemas are plenty of fun as a family but now you can take advantage of the warm weather by heading to an outdoor cinema near you!

Our list isn’t comprehensive but we do hope that you and yours will take advantage of one of the ideas that we’ve mentioned.

You can book a trusted, vetted babysitter on our website if you need extra hands to come along while enjoying these activities. You can also book one of our babysitters to look after your children in the comfort of your home should you decide to leave them behind while you head out for some time without your kids.
